KIMEA Emergency Special Vote

Dear KIMEA Membership 23-24,

In light of Sophie Holbrook's recent election to the AMIS Board, Sophie has decided to step down from her current role as KIMEA Band Division Chair. Sophie will still be an integral part of the KIMEA Organization and the KIMEA Board specifically. In her place the Board has nominated Nikki Harris, BFS to replace Sophie Holbrook, SFS.

In addition, I move to create a new Board position "Member at Large." The Board "Member at Large" position will participate in board meetings, provide input on key decisions, and contribute expertise or guidance on matters relevant to the organization's mission and objectives.

Basically, it is good to have institutional memory. We should have created this position last year. Michael Ganus basically filled this role last year anyway. This will not involve any procedural change. But, merely give another voice to the board.

Please vote by this Friday June 7, 2024!

FYI, Robert's Rules of Order stipulates that any constitutional change, such as creating a Board position, requires a 2/3 vote of the entire membership. We have 72 members this year. (2/3 = 48 YES votes.) Abstaining counts as a NO.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Sanford Jones

KIMEA President

Concert Season Complete!

We want to thank all teachers, teaching assistants, accompanists, and instructors for their hard work and dedication to this year's Spring Concert Season! Whether it is the Spring Concert or playing music for graduation ceremonies, it is always a joy to bring music to the forefront of our school communities. Well done on a fantastic 2023-2024 school year!

Summertime!

Take this summer to relax and enjoy the company of friends and family. If you are staying in Korea this summer, meet up with a KIMEA teacher and hang out! This is a great way to build relationships within our organization.
