Karissa Van Liew
President
Karissa Van Liew is in her 7th year teaching Middle School Music at Cheongna Dalton School in Incheon. She received her BME, with emphasis on the flute from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and her MA in World and Traditional Music from the University of Sheffield. Karissa has played Korean traditional percussion (pungmulnori and samulnori) for five years and she is passionate about spreading Korean traditional music to educators abroad.
As an educator, she believes in providing students with a comprehensive music education that allows them to actively experience a wide spectrum of music areas and become lifelong participants of music. She is grateful for the wonderful opportunities that KIMEA provides for students in the international community and is grateful to serve as the President this year.
